Abstract

This work aims to revisit the work of the renowned philosopher David Hume to reconstruct his exposition of what would become the famous problem of induction. The question of how we can move from the observation of "n crows are black" to the assertion "all crows are black" is the problem of induction. Given the central role of this problem in our knowledge in a more pronounced way in the search for nomological regularities in nature, it remains to analyze the structure of these inductive inferences to detect their origin and this is Hume's enterprise. This work intends yet to evaluate the interpretations of the Scottish philosopher's argument, reshaping the traditional skeptical reading of Hume's conclusions to confront it with other possible ones.
