Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the verbal behavior criterion as a necessary condition for the verification of intelligence, as well as the  hypothesis that a more exigent criterion would be required. The main goal here will be to compare the criteria of verification of human intelligence and the criteria of artificial intelligence, in order to conclude that neither the intelligence of a program can be completely verified, nor the intelligence of human beings in general – on the grounds that the purposes of those agents are not verifiable. However, it will be considered Alan Turing's "polite convention" as a viable solution to the impasse.
