The crisis of humanism

Contributions towards biopolitics

Abstract

Taking as reference the lecture entitled Rules for the human park pronounced by Peter Sloterdijk we expose, at first, a diagnosis of the current era in which it configures a crisis of humanism (Christian, Marxist and Existentialist) that sustain conceptions of man beyond the true essence of the human being. In a second moment, refers to Heidegger’s critique of humanism that has lost its ability to truly educate man, and misrepresenting the true nature of his essence as it exists simply thrown into the world. The paper concludes with issues that we believe are fundamental for discussion on biopolitics today, such as: how to position ourselves against the man redesigned in front of knowing that genetic manipulation will be done whether you like it or not? Will the question about the care and training of the human being no more make itself so relevant in the realm of the mere theories of domestication and education?
